In it's 19th season, the CHAMPS program is designed to prepare junior golfers for competitive golf on the local, regional, and national levels. The CHAMPS program is a year round program, and enrollment is taken at any time.
Full Time Enrollment (Four Times Per Week) - $200/month
Two Times Per Week - $150/month
Daily Fee - $20/day
There are 4 Camp offerings this season, each lasting four days from Monday - Thursday. Beginning junior golfers are those who have had little or no formal instruction, while intermediate junior golfers have had some instruction and have played golf on a golf course a few times. All four camps cost $295 per student, and include lunch each day and a camp gift. Camps run from 9am to 3pm each day. Director of Instruction Skip Maiwald will lead each junior golf camp with assistance from other Ironhorse instructors, with the Camp goals being to convey the game of golf to the students in a progressive manner that builds on the prior day's material - all while having fun and being safe!
Skip was voted “Teacher of the Year” in the Midwest Section of the PGA in 1999 and 2008, and also achieved the title of “Junior Golf Leader” in 2000 and 2003. He has been ranked by Golf Digest as a top instructor in the State of Kansas for the past 10 years consecutively, and is ranked in the top 400 teachers in North America by Golf Magazine. A past Lead Instructor for the ESPN Golf Schools, Skip currently is a Lead Instructor for the Troon Golf Academies.
